Julia Pello

Filmmaker and Professor

I am a filmmaker, producer, editor and professor of film, video and media. I have taught a variety of students of different ages (including pre-teens, teens and adults) and at various stages of familiarity and competency with digital media over the course of my career. I love teaching because it allows me not introduce not only technical skills but also ideas and concepts that are responsive to the world we live in.

Julia Pello is an independent filmmaker and professor of cinema, film and video. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute (SAIC). She worked in the commercial production and post-production industries in NYC (6 years) and France (5 years) before returning to Chicago to get her MFA from the department of Film/Video/New Media/Animation at SAIC. Julia is an active filmmaker and moving image artist with her most recent short film “Arrow” screening at multiple festivals around the world.
