Joseph Pilates developed a system of core exercises for injured soldiers. Dancers later found out about this method and it has spread to elite athletes and celebrities —We will do a one hour mat pilates sequence that will strengthen the core and get to the visceral fat. Pilates also works on posture…people may ask you if you’ve gotten taller!!!
If you have back injuries or any spinal conditions, this is not a good class for you as there are many contraindications. If you want to increase core strength and spinal stability(it’s all about the spine) it’s a great thing for you.
You need a thick mat….pilates mats are thicker than yoga mats since we do a lot on the back….double yoga mat works
