Class Description

 

In this course you will have the opportunity to learn every aspect of Dutch Oven cooking. We will start with the seasoning, care, and cleaning a Dutch Oven. Both aluminum and cast-iron ovens will be discussed. We will then discuss the proper heat for successful cooking. We will talk about charcoal, and the oven in your home oven and heat. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both aluminum and cast-iron ovens. We will discuss when to use a Dutch Oven and the different sizes of ovens. We will discuss ways of knowing when a dish is done, Live cooking demonstrations will accompany cooking six different types of recipes.

 

The essential tools you will need as well as placing an oven on a heat source and stacking ovens to cook a variety of dishes at the same time. We will discuss recipes of what you want to cook and where to find them. Dutch oven cookbooks, other cookbooks and online. We will discuss cooking appetizers, breads, vegetable dishes, breakfast dishes, main dinners, and desserts.
I will be discussing aspects of Dutch oven cooking initially and will then prepare dishes live in each of the six areas.
The premise I will incorporate is “there is no such thing as a dumb question when learning something new”. I will work hard to provide opportunities to answer questions at any time. We will discuss following. changing, and crating your own recipes.
